The beauty industry thrives on newness, and luckily there are a number of sites that are pretty good at predicting the future of beauty. We did thorough research to find exactly what nails, makeup, hair and skincare products we’re going to see this year. From natural grey hair to stand-out lipsticks, almond nails, and witch hazel, here are seven beauty trends that are taking 2019 by storm.

1. Embracing Your Greys

Last year was a big year for embracing your silver roots. Searches for grey hair on Pinterest are currently up at 879%. Celebrities like Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes, and Chrissy Teigen all embraced their natural greys on the red carpet while women at home shared their ‘going grey’ journeys on social media.

If the statistics are anything to go by, you will no longer be scared of growing out your grey hair, in fact, you’ll actively go looking for it.

2. Lilac hair

The year 2016 was all about smokey lilac hair, but for this year straight up lilac dye will take over your social media feed. The soft pastel hair color is a great choice for fall and summer and will brighten dreary, cold winter days. Try dyeing your hair an all over shade or rich lilac. For a more subtle change, try the pastel hue. Although it’s difficult to maintain, it looks beautiful next to any skin tone.

3. Glossy Makeup

Dominating the runway in recent months, glossy makeup for eyes and lips has become an alternative to the traditional matte look. To get that “wet” look, try this super easy glossy eyeshadow tutorial. You can also prime your lids with an eyelid primer then apply your favourite eyeshadow and layer with gloss to get that shininess on your eyelids.

4. Dip Powder Nails

Dip powder nails have been available in salons for years, but thanks to social media, they are staging a comeback. They are a blend of a regular manicure and a fake nail. The technique involves dipping your nails in a pot of your chosen colour for several minutes. The manicure stays longer than gels – can last as long as a month – and are touted as easier to remove.

5. Liquid Exfoliators

Liquid exfoliators, commonly known as acids, are growing strong as we continue to hunt for the perfect gentle exfoliator. They are very effective at removing dead skin, evening complexion and brightening skin tone.

Other ways to remove the build up of dead skin and reveal radiant, smooth skin that you may consider are dermaplaning and cosmetic surgery abroad (Europe Surgery).

6. Witch Hazel

As skincare continues to dominate our makeup routines, old-school products like witch hazel are becoming very popular in 2019. Witch hazel contains tannins and antioxidants which can reduce pore size, soothe redness, combat oily skin and aide acne, sunburn and puffy eyes. It also has calming components that help soothe rashes from oak or poison ivy and bug bites and stings.

7. Baby Bangs

Cropped bags are certainly not for everyone but photos for baby bangs prove that when you go short, the payoff is big. Thinking of making the chop? Here are some inspirations and advice for you.
