According to experts, speeding up the metabolism is crucial for a successful weight loss. One way to do this, as research pointed out, is to consume foods which can help you achieve this, i.e. spices.

When properly combined, certain ingredients can ease the weight loss and make it more effective. Namely, in a study done by researchers of the Medical Sciences University of Iran, participants were divided into 2 groups of 44 overweight women.
For 3 months, the women ate healthy food and consumed less than 500 calories daily. The first group was given 3 grams of powdered cumin daily with 140 grams of yogurt. The second group consumed yogurt only, without cumin.

The end results showed that the women from group number 1 lost 14 pounds more in comparison to the women from the second group. Also, they lost more fat, that is, 14.64%, whereas the second one lost 4.91%.

Why is cumin so beneficial?

As the scientists explain, it’s because cumin is rich in filosterole, a compound that prevents buildup of cholesterol.
